Stampin’ Up! Fabulous Sayings Card for the Creative Crafters Challenge

Create this card using Fabulous Sayings by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Creative Crafters Challenge starts today, and we have lots of inspiration to get you playing in your craft room. Our theme is always “anything goes,” so let’s see what you’re working on this week! I created a card to showcase the new Product of the Month stamp set, Fabulous Sayings. This sentiment stamp set is perfect for your forever stash because the fonts are wonderful. The Irresistible Designs paper has UV-coated patterns that resist ink, making it perfect for emboss-resist techniques. I never think about heat embossing anymore, mostly because my sweet kitty couldn’t resist the powder on my craft table. This gives me the look without the mess that I—and Bella—make. This card was fast and easy to put together and perfect for any occasion.

By the way, Fabulous Sayings is the second Product of the Month product and is available (while supplies last!) for only $5 with a $75 order. What a bargain!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • This A2 card started with cardstock, cut to 11 x 4-1/4 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • I cut the Floral Charm designer paper to 5-1/4 x 4.
  • Then, I cut the Irresistible Designs paper to 4-7/8 x 3-5/8, which allows you to see more of the pretty DSP underneath.
  • Using my Stampin’ Up! Blending Brushes, I blended ink around the border of the Irresistible Designs paper. After that, I glued it to the Floral Charm panel and glued them to the card base.

And now, the fun part!

  • I started with the sentiment panel first, stamping “thank you” from the Fabulous Sayings stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink and cropping it out with the Branching Out die.
  • Then, I decided to add some texture, so I cut another panel with the same die and ran it through my die cutting machine in the Stone & Vine embossing folder. I cut it in half and glued it to the sentiment panel. I wanted to add some ribbon to hide the edge but couldn’t find one that would stand out. So, I cut a strip of the Floral Charm patterned paper, wrapped it around the panel, and adhered it to the back. This panel was then popped up with dimensionals onto the card base.
  • Of course, you need something to bring some attention to the card, and I got out my favorite Delightful Wishes dies to do the heavy lifting. I cut out both the flower and the detailed die and colored them with Stampin’ Blends. Once that was done, I glued them together.
  • Then, I stamped the leaves in Garden Green ink and cut them out with the coordinating die. Once that was done, I popped them up with dimensionals onto the card base.
  • Finally, I added the gems to the panel for a little sparkle.

Then, on the inside…

  • I made another panel for the personal message, copying the dimensions of the front panel.
  • I am leaving the sentiment off so I can add one later for the specific occasion I need it for, but thought the fun die in the Delightful Wishes bundle added a detail that was very cute. So I cut the bottom corner of the white cardstock with the die, then added a Bubble Bath piece of cardstock underneath and glued it to the DSP before adding this panel to the inside of the card.

Meet the new members of the Mageed family! Noah absolutely loved putting these little pets together. In case you haven’t seen this before, this adorable kit is available on the SU online store. It was easy for him to do all by himself, and each pet came with a Certificate of Adoption (creating a discussion about what adoption means). Our new pets are Meow-Meow (cat), Gilly (guinea pig), Charlie (dog), and Tweety (bird). Too cute! He couldn’t wait to take them all home to “live” with him. Here is a link to the kit in case you are interested.
