Stampin’ Up! Fragrant Layers Birthday Card for the Creative Crafters Challenge

Hi, Stampers!

A new Creative Crafters Challenge starts today with the “Anything Goes” theme. My card today has been on my craft table for a bit longer than I planned. The pretty Fragrant Layers image on the front was made for another card, but I wasn’t “feeling it,” so it got tossed aside while I could figure out something else for the card. Once I cleared my head, I was able to go back to it and decided that it needed a Z-fold card to make it shine. So, I paired it with the wonderful Country Woods designer paper to bring in some vintage vibes. Oh, I love square cards! If you haven’t tried one yet, you will really love them.

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

• Card Base: 12 x 6, and scored at 3 and 6 on the 12 side.
• DSP Panels (front and middle): 5-3/4 x 2-3/4 (2)
• DSP Panels (inside): 5-3/4 x 5-3/4
• Front Image Panel: 5 x 3-3/4 and 5-1/4 x 4
• Panel (inside): 4 x 4, and white cardstock: 3-3/4 x 3-3/4

And now, the fun part!

• After cutting all of the cardstock and designer papers, I sponged Gray Granite ink along all of the edges.
• Once that was done, everything was adhered to the card base.
• The Focal Image used two of the Fragrant Layers dies. The flower outline die only cuts the outline of the flowers, so make sure you place it exactly where you want it on the cardstock you are wanting to use.
• After that, I cut it out with the Perennial Postage die and layered the flowers (cut from the Beautiful Gallery DSP) behind it. Then, the Lovely Blossoms Petal Pink DSP was adhered behind the panel and layered onto Gray Granite cardstock. Finally, I layered the panel onto Petal Pink cardstock to give it a bit of contrast with the dark background.
• The small flowers in the die collection are so sweet! I sponged them and adhered three of them onto the flowers.
• I stamped the Happy Birthday from Lovely Arrangements stamp set in Gray Granite ink and punched it out with the Three Banner Punch. Then, I punched another banner from a scrap of the Gray Granite cardstock and layered it underneath. I made a loose bow from the sweet Gray Granite Variegated Trim, adhered it to the front panel with the sentiment on top. The little bee was a trinket on a cute lavender honey jar I bought a while back, and found it in a kitchen drawer that I was decluttering this week. I just had to use it!

Then, on the inside…

• Inside, I cut and sponged the panels, adhered them together and place them in the center, making sure it was hidden when the card was closed.
• I stamped the sentiment from Lovely Arrangements in Gray Granite ink.
• For the middle panel, I cut out the other flower outline and sponged it with ink before adhering it.
• Lastly, I cut out the flower and leaves, sponging them around the edges (a little too much with a newly re-inked pad) and adhered them to the bottom of the panel.
