Stampin’ Up Mixed Florals for Let’s Craft & Create

Create this card using Mixed Florals by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

A new Let’s Craft and Create Challenge starts today, and the theme is “From the Heart.” I have to admit, though, that I didn’t realize that until I sat down to write this post! I accidentally looked at the February 2025 theme instead, which was pink or red with white. Oops! But honestly, I think this card still has plenty of heart, don’t you? This card is for a wonderful friend, whom I love so much. We are like sisters in every way.

So, on to today’s card…

To capture a little bit of that spring feeling, I used the Mixed Florals stamp set, which is newly acquired for me—but already on the Last Chance list. This time I chose the beautiful tulip image and colored it with Stampin’ Blends markers. The soft pink shades turned out so pretty and really helped bring a bit of spring to my craft table. We’ve been dealing with the coldest, longest stretch of Arctic weather I can remember. I’m usually not one to wish time away, but right now I am definitely longing for warmer days and blooming flowers.

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • Firstly, this card started with cardstock, cut to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, then scored at 4-1/4.
  • Then, I cut the Brights designer paper to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8 and gave it some texture by embossing it with the Painted Texture embossing folder. If you look hard at the photo, you can see it, but this step could easily be skipped.
  • After that, I layered it onto Melon Mambo cardstock, cut to 4 x 5-1/4.

And now, the fun part!

  • My new black ink, Secret Sea, was used to stamp the tulip image. Once it was dry, I began coloring the tulips and leaves with Stampin’ Blends markers (colors listed below). Then, I colored the background between the tulips and leaves with the light Balmy Blue to give the image some dimension. After that, I cropped it out with the coordinating die.
  • I wanted to layer it onto an oval die, so I used my favorite (contraband) Hemstitch die. (I know I will be asked so the die is Spellbinders S5-332 but a search doesn’t find one for sale.) Once I cut that out, I popped it up with dimensionals onto the card base. Then, the image was popped up onto the oval.
  • I found a sentiment in the Perfectly Pears stamp set, so I inked it up with Secret Sea ink and punched it out with the new Three Banner Punch.
  • Finally, I added a few Frosted Iridescent Dots for some sparkle.

Then, on the inside…

  • The inside of the card was made with Melon Mambo cardstock, cut to 4 x 5-1/4, then layered with white cardstock, cut to 3-7/8 x 5-1/8.
  • Before I glued them together, I stamped the sweet floral and ladybug images and colored them with Stampin’ Blends.

Here’s my cute Noah, who was getting a bit tired of playing with the same old stuff. So, I decided to get out my Mix & Match images, and we made a bookmark (complete with a handmade pompom) and a card. He couldn’t wait to do it again the next day! Wow, he loves crafting with his old gramma!

  1. Start ‘im off young…perhaps another Tim Holtz or Simon Hurley in the making 🙂 As for your card, I love the background not only for the pink but it looks like tissue paper after using the EF. Your friend will definitely appreciate your thoughtfulness…especially if she like lady bugs!

  2. The bookmarks!!💕 This card is oh-do-pretty in pink, and I especially love the torn edge. That is now my go-to fix for the edge of that image, which has always bugged me!

  3. Beautiful card, nice coloring, great die and like the embossing on the patterned paper. Noah is as cute as ever. Glad you shared with us at Allsorts challenge!

  4. You’ll remember these days with Noah with love.

I do love the background and soft colors on the flowers.
So glad you joined our February challenge at Die Cut Divas..

  5. Your card is so beautiful with the pretty bouquet of flowers. And love how you finished the inside too. And how wonderful that Noah enjoys crafting too. The bookmarks look fantastic! Plus, love his sweater!
Thanks so much for sharing at Allsorts challenge!
