Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
Hi, Stampers!
This month’s Stampin’ Pretty Pals Blog Hop is all about the Male Room theme—because the men in our lives deserve handmade cards too! Whether you’re creating for a dad, husband, son, grandson, brother, or friend, this hop is packed with ideas to help you craft something special. Today, the Pals are sharing male-themed card designs using Stampin’ Up! products, from bright and playful styles to classic looks and quick-and-easy layouts. If you’re looking for fresh inspiration (or just a good reason to dive into your craft room), you’re in the perfect place.
Today’s card was a fun one to make—and definitely not in my wheelhouse (pun intended!) since I’ve never been much of a racing fan. But after discovering that my son Adam, grandson Noah, and daughter Sarah enjoy Formula 1, I couldn’t resist the Ready, Set, GO! stamp set. I wanted this card to feel like a real race in action… so I added more than one car! What do you think?

My Secrets!
Let’s start with the card base…
- I made a 6″ square fun-fold card. (Why? Because guys have large hands, and I love the extra “real estate” to be creative.)
- Card Base: 12 x 6 cardstock, scored at 6 and then cut off 3″ from one end. (Save this piece because it becomes the buckle for the fun fold.)
- DSP: Front 5-3/4 x 2-3/4; Inside 5-3/4 x 5-3/4
- Once those were ready, I cut the cut-off piece to make the buckle, cutting it to 1-3/4 x 6 and scoring it at 3. I adhered one side to the inside of the card at the halfway mark and glued it to the card base. Then, the panels were glued into place on the card base, as well.
And now, the fun part!
- Masking technique: I stamped the Ready, Set, GO! race car onto masking paper, then fussy-cut it out. (If you don’t have masking paper, use the sticky end of a Post-it note!)
- After that, I stamped the race car towards the bottom of the 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 piece of white cardstock, then covered it with the mask to stamp the next one. I did that four more times to finish the panel.
- Then, I started coloring them, one by one, with Stampin’ Blends (colors are listed below).
- Optional: I added the finish line where the first car was for a fun detail.
- Once that was done, I trimmed it down to 5-1/4 x 4 and layered it onto black cardstock, cut to 5-1/2 x 4-1/4.
- After that, I cut Poppy Parade paper to 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 and ran it through my cutting machine in the Lovely Stripes embossing folder.
- I stamped the sentiment and the checkered flag in Secret Sea ink and cut it out with the Textured Notes die. I layered it onto Poppy Parade cardstock, 1-1/4 x 2-7/8, and then popped it up on the buckle with dimensionals.
- The trophy is an image from the A Wonderful Match designer paper, which I fussy-cut.
- The embossed Poppy Parade paper was set at an angle so that the top right corner touched the top of the card base and the bottom left corner touched the bottom of it. It was adhered to the small front panel. (Secret: I add the adhesive to the card base, not the panel, to make sure I don’t glue the card shut.)
- Once that was done, I adhered the image panel onto the card base.
- Finally, I adhered the trophy with glue on the right side and an adhesive strip on the left.
- Once the card front was done, I decided the front race car would look better if it were popped up, so I stamped another race car, colored it, and fussy-cut it out. Then, it was popped up with dimensionals.
- Full Disclosure: I know absolutely nothing about car racing, so my card may not be very realistic. However, my son and grandson really like racing, which made me want to give it a go. Noah’s favorite race car is the McLaren! I learn something every day.

Then, on the inside…
- I left the inside of the card simple, just adding a panel of Poppy Parade cardstock, cut to 3-7/8 x 3-7/8, and layered white cardstock, cut to 3-3/4 x 3-3/4, after stamping the sentiments from Ready, Set, Go! and Beautiful Motifs stamp sets.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope this card gets your creativity racing! 🏁

Oh my goodness, you really used that “real estate” well! Any racing fan ( and any stamping/cardmaking fan) has to appreciate this great card, so I’m sure your kids will all love it! The colors, the cars, the flags, the trophy- just WOW! (I’m not a big racing fan, either, but this would be great for my BIL, who owns a race car). Everything about this card is WOW! I never even noticed this set until now…
Really fun birthday card! Love the colorful cars!
Fun card for your grandchildren, Debbie! They’ll love it!
This is a fun card. Loved your pun about getting our creativity “racing”. Yes, the males in our life do deserve a handmade card. It has become increasingly difficult because I end up making the same thing for each male. If not, then my products would literally sit in the product bin unused. Or, I try and turn them around and give them away or sell them. Anyway, thanks for sharing your secrets.
Ready…set…fabulous! Great card, Debbie!
Vroom! Way to get your juices racing and make a sensational manly/boyly card, Debbie! Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
