Stampin’ Up! Storybook Garden Patch Card for Inspiration Station

Create this card using Storybook Garden Patch by Stampin' Up! and Debbie Mageed at Secrets to Stamping

Hi, Stampers!

Are you ready for a new Inspiration Station challenge? We have a new photo to inspire you, and I believe it’s ideal for creating a beautiful spring card. I took my inspiration from the sweet rustic frame and decided to use the recently retired Storybook Garden Patch bundle that I haven’t used at all. It reminded me of a bundle that has been in my stash for quite a while that I couldn’t part with, Grace’s Garden. Do you remember that one? Then, I made a background with the gorgeous Perennial Lavender DSP that is on the Last Chance list and is still available today but could go fast (get it while you can!).

What part of the inspiration photo speaks to your creativity? I’d love to see how it moves you. Your interpretation of the inspirational photo is your own, so let your creativity flow!

My Secrets!

Let’s start with the card base…

  • This card started with cardstock, cut to 11 x 5-1/2 and scored at 5-1/2.
  • I cut the two DSPs to 5-1/4 x 5-1/4 and 5-1/8 x 5-1/8 and adhered them together.

And now, the fun part!

  • Easy so far, right? I stamped the watering can with Crumb Cake ink and colored it with Stampin’ Blends. Then, I cut it out with the coordinating die.
  • After that, I cut out the two planter pieces that work together from Crumb Cake cardstock, ink-blended some Crumb Cake ink along the bottom, and colored the detail piece with Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Blends.
  • Then, I got out the Grace’s Garden bundle and filled in the rest: the arched gate, the little spade, the flowers, and even the adorable kitty. The kitty is my sense of humor coming out a bit. My cat Bella always sits and stares at a door that’s closed. She doesn’t even want to go through the doorway necessarily, but she just can’t stand the idea of not being able to. Because, who knows? Maybe she’ll want to later!
  • The mound of grass just behind the focal images was from a die in the Storybook Garden Patch, but you really don’t notice it much. It separates the foreground from the background, which is precisely what I intended it to do.
  • Once these were all colored and cut, as necessary, all of the elements were adhered to the card base.
  • Then, I stamped the sentiment from Grace’s Garden and cropped it out with the Perennial Postage die (which is on the Last Chance list the last time I checked).

Then, on the inside…

  • The inside used more of the paper I used as the layer on the front. It was cut to 5-1/4 x 5-1/4.
  • I couldn’t resist using my old SU square dies; the largest one has scallops, and I just love the extra detail it gives.
  • Once I cut white cardstock with it, I stamped the flowers in Gorgeous Grape ink (first and second generation) and adhered it to the background panel to add to the card base.

This isn’t the best photo but I wanted to show you my ducks, who are back at my birdfeeders for the fourth year in a row. I love them so much and look forward to their almost-daily visits. So, I now feed a variety of birds, squirrels, rabbits, ducks, and chipmunks! What’s next??
