Welcome!
It’s the Families First Pals Blog Hop for April 2017. We appreciate you stopping by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month we are featuring projects that are all about our families. This is a great time of year to think about what to make for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or upcoming graduations – or whatever you celebrate. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.
You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below. The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.
Succulent Garden Clothespin Wreath
Home decor doesn’t have to be complicated and this clothespin wreath was a fun, easy project that I made in a weekend. I have always wanted to make one and actually have had the clothespins in my craft room stash for years. The Succulent Garden DSP convinced me that it was time to make it!
It’s All in the Details
- I started with a total of 72 clothespins, cutting four of the DSP patterns into strips of 3/8″ x 3 1/4″. I did 18 clothespins of each DSP but only used 17 of each so if you use less than 4 designs of DSP, you might be able to use all 72. Wanting to keep the pattern evenly, I couldn’t get four more on, so left the last four off.
- Now, using Glossy Mod Podge (MP), while binge-watching episodes of Top Chef with my daughter, I coated each clothespin with a light coat of MP, laid the DSP strip down and applied another coat of MP. After they dried, I applied one more coat. Once that was dry, I clipped them to a metal floral wreath form.
- The grapevine wreath was secured over the metal wreath form as tightly as I could get it, using beading wire and hot glue.
- I attached store-bought flowers (no apologies here because they are so pretty!), used an oval punch to cut out leaves from DSP, sponged the edges, folded them in half before hot gluing them to the bottom of each flower.
- Succulent Garden 3/8″ Ribbon was made into a big bow, then Silver Sequin Trim was glued to the back before all were hot glued to the grapevine wreath. Then, the flowers were hot glued in place.
- Four flowers from Special Reason were stamped in Sweet Sugarplum, then letters from Brushwork Alphabet were heat embossed with Old Olive, VersaMark and Clear Emboss Powder.
- Two banners from Fiesta Time Framelits were cut from the DSP, layered to connect them together with adhesive. The four flowers were adhered in place, then all were hot glued to the wreath. Two tassels from Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit were tied with a small piece of ribbon, then hot glued in place to the ends of the banner.
- I tied a small piece of ribbon to the back of the metal wreath frame to hang in place and this pretty wreath was done!

Mother’s Love Card
Some stampers just make cards so I also made a card that can be used for any occasion when celebrating mothers. I tried keeping this card generic but with Mother’s Day right around the corner, I think it would be perfect for that celebration! The supplies used are listed below and if you have any questions regarding how I made it, please feel free to leave me a comment. I did use a couple of retired stamp sets (I have so many!) but you can substitute from what you have with this design.

An amazing wreath, Debbie. A great idea… and I am so impressed with how even your clothes pins are.
Great projects. The DSP looks wonderful on the clothes pins! Thanks for your inspiration.
So pretty that I have to make one for myself. Can you tell me what size is the wreath & the metal wreath? Can’t wait to get started on it!
Thank you for your comment! The metal wreath form is 12″ in diameter. The grapevine wreath is 10″. I would love to see yours when you get it finished!
The Mother’s Love card is so beautiful and the Wreath is so creative. You truly are gifted.
Debbie, your wreath is STUNNING! What a gorgeous home decor item to display in your home! Love the clothespins with the dsp surrounding the grapevine. I see why you love the brushwork alphabet… and the designer typeset banner was perfect for the lettering for the card! You certainly rocked this blog hop!!!
I LOVE how you did those leaves on the wreath and your Mother’s Day card is absolutely gorgeous!
A real beauty Debbie!
Debbie, the wreath and matching card are just beautiful. The DSP colors are perfect for this “Spring” display. Wonderful!
Debbie, you seriously knocked this project/card out of the ball park! Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us.
Thanks for responding to my question so promptly.
FANTASTIC!!!
Thank you for sharing – might have to attempt the clothespin wreath 🙂
Debbie, you wreath is stunning. The colors of that DSP worked out so pretty.
Your wreath is REALLY pretty. I’m going to try and make one too! Saving your instructions and how you made it is so easy to understand. I really enjoy your site.
Thanks a bunch.
Awesome! Nuff said!
