Country Home Thanksgiving Card for the Sisterhood of Crafters

The Sisterhood of Crafters has a new challenge using this Mood Board. What do you see in this photo that makes you want to make a card?? I chose the colors and the words “Give Thanks” to make a Thanksgiving card for my family. This card is using the Country Home stamp set, which is wonderful for Thanksgiving, and pairing it with a die that I had purchased a year ago and never used. Isn’t it beautiful??

My Secrets to Making This Country Home Project

  • Isn’t the background cool? I absolutely love the Bright Copper Shimmer Paint!! I applied the paint with a dauber to the Very Vanilla cardstock after running it through the Big Shot in the Quilt Top embossing folder. I’m no expert with it yet, but I can guarantee you that there’s “no experience needed” to have fun with this shimmer paint! The photo can’t show the lovely bling the paint has added, but it’s very festive IRL.
  • The flowers and vase stamp was stamped in Cajun Craze, then I used a blender pen to gently pull the ink from the outlines to add a hint of color to the image.
  • The 1/4″ copper trim was tied into a bow and only the loops were pulled apart to add a little more fullness.

  1. LOVE this card Debbie! WOW! I truly thought that was designer paper for your background … it’s gorgeous! Nicely done! I’ll have to check into that product! Love your overall design … so thankful for your inspiration! Have a great day my friend!

  2. You do this to me a lot!!! LOL, just when I had talked myself out of something(s), you make a card that I examine carefully and then I have to get the things you used. Ooooooo, you enabler, you. So I’m breaking out the blender pen and that copper ribbon (to fluff the bow part, genius!) and will make a little something with what I have. (Until my new set and paint come.)
Did I mention I love this card?

  3. Fabulous card Debbie…I love how you did your background…..a very pretty design…and love the stamps used, of course I purchased them from you already…now they just need to see ink..maybe today since it is cold, wet and icy out here in our Michigan winter wonderland lol!! Sorry I am so late in getting here, but I took a few weeks off from the computer and it did me good!

  4. I enjoyed meeting you at On Stage. I really like this card & I appreciate your explanation on how to recreate it! I thought the background was DSP when I first saw it and I was trying to figure out which papers it belonged to! I have not tried that with the paint yet.

  5. Gorgeous card and I love the colour palette of this piece, it’s stunning! Thank you so much for sharing and for playing along with us over on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog…

  6. Great job using the shimmer paint on the embossed background. It is so pretty and I love all the elements, especially the large font of the sentiment. TFS!

  7. Wow Debbie, that background is awesome, I really have to try that method, I so very rarely use my embossing folders and I absolutely love how you coloured the vase to make it look rusty and vintage! Wonderful card Debbie! Hugs, Gwendolyn
