Alphabet Challenge has a new theme starting today – “N is for No Layers.” Did you know that I like layers – lots of them?? Boy, this theme was SO hard for me, but the Delicate Dahlias stamp set made it super easy. Because no layer cards are not my thing, I made an additional card with just a few changes to enhance the pretty stamp set. So, how’d I do and which card do you like best? Let me know in a comment!
Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Alphabet Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along before October 21!
My secrets to making this Quiet Meadow project
- Card #1: Card base is 11″ x 4-1/4″ and scored at 5-1/2.”
- Card #2: Card base is 6″ x 9″ and scored at 4-1/2.”
Now, the FUN Part!
- Firstly, both cards were made essentially the same way except I stamped Card #1’s dahlia outline with Poppy Parade ink and Card #2’s with Cajun Craze ink. Then, I stamped both with Pale Papaya ink with the coordinating stamp.
- After that, I stamped the leaves with Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen inks.
- Then, I stamped the sentiments and added some bling to the centers of the flowers, which completed Card #1.
- For Card #2, I added a layer of Evening Evergreen cardstock, colored the background with a light gray alcohol marker (Copics C1) and added the little ink spots from the Artistically Inked stamp set.
I’m sharing my card with these challenges:

Your card has a lot more “pop” to it!!!!
Both card designs are beautiful Debbie,I love to have at least 2 layers
Love layers, too!
To me, the first card would be for a beginner.
I vote for your card. 😉🌹
Your card is very pretty, Debbie. It must be very tough for you to go with a “No layer” challenge, but you did a great job. Enjoy your day!
I know what you mean about layers. I always layer my cards. You have done a gorgeous job on yours. I like both the layered and the no layers version. Love Dawn x
I’ve been admiring your card ever since you’ve posted it to the DT blog, and I’d never guess about the struggles you’ve had with it. Your layered cards are truly wonderful, but this one doesn’t need to hide a bit. And it’s such an extra bonus to see the layered version of the dahlias! I couldn’t decide on which I like better because they’re both so pretty, so I’ll just say that I’m amazed by the difference a layer can do. However, I must say that your sympathy card turned out so well with the flowers and colours you used. I like to think that a card like this brings a bit more consolation than the traditional black & white ones which you can buy in the store.
Hugs, Veronika
Fab card Debbie! I struggle to craft without layers as well. Love the colours you’ve used xx
I think, surprisingly, I like the no layer one best. Not sure why, either, I just can’t pinpoint it. You did this challenge proud!
This is a simple BUT beautiful card Debbie! Love the color combos. You ALWAYS do a beautifully created card. TFS.😊😊
This is so lovely, Debbie, and I love your color combo! I just want to thank you for playing along in last week’s challenge at Creative Knockouts.
