Vintage Card using Tasteful Touches by Secrets to Stamping

Make My Monday has a new theme today – we are looking for “Shabby Chic or Vintage” cards. I am totally over my head with this challenge because my cards are usually on the cleaner side. However, I hope my card for you today meets the requirements, using a couple favorite stamp sets, Tasteful Touches and Very Versailles stamp sets. Do you think I achieved the goal of vintage? Please let me know in a comment!

Once you finish here, I hope you visit our Make My Monday Design Team gallery for some great inspiration and play along!

My secrets to making this Quiet Meadow project

  • My A6 size card, 9″ x 6″, began with Basic White Thick cardstock and scored at 4-1/2.” After that, I sponged it with Sahara Sand ink all around the edges.

Now, the FUN Part!

  • Firstly, I stamped white cardstock all over with the beautiful leaves stamp from Very Versailles, which just absolutely speaks “vintage” in my mind. After that, I ran it through the Tasteful Textile embossing folder, then sponged it with ink all over, especially the edges. Then, it was layered onto Basic Black cardstock.
  • Once finished with the background, I pulled out some non-SU from my stash that I thought might look nice on a vintage card. To make the frame, I inked the stamp in Gray Granite and ran it through the Tasteful Textile embossing folder. Then, I trimmed it to adhere to the Tim Holtz frame. Finally, I wrapped it with the baker’s twine and placed the cute key from the retired Bird Ballad Trinkets before adhering it to the card base.
  • After that, I stamped the flower in Tasteful Touches in Gray Granite, then colored the petals very lightly in Soft Suede and Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends markers. Then, I fussy cut it out.
  • Next, I took the Tim Holtz Butterflies Adornments butterfly and decided to try coloring the edges with the Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends marker, and, guess what – it worked! Just love the little bit of detail it adds!
  • Finally, I stamped the sentiment in black ink and, to add a little vintage look, cropped it with the wonderful die from Peony die collection.

I’m sharing my card with these challenges:
